Man serious after caravan park shooting
A man was in a serious condition in hospital yesterday after being shot a number of times at a caravan park.
The gun attack happened at the Vivian Hand caravan park on the Corballis Road in Dublin at about 4.30pm.
He was taken to Beaumont Hospital where gardai said he remains in a serious condition.
The scene has been preserved for a technical examination.
No arrests have been made.
Brendan Ryan, Labour Party Dublin North TD, said it was miraculous the victim was not killed outright.
"It is also miraculous that no innocent bystanders were hurt, particularly given that it is a bank holiday, when many families are out and about," he said.
"While gardai are investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident, it seems to be the case that as far as some of these criminals are concerned, life is cheap, and any perceived slight can escalate into a serious attack such as this."
