A man allegedly caught with large quantities of cannabis after gardai searched a property in west Dublin has been sent for trial.

Babasola Adeosun (53) was served with the book of evidence when he appeared be-fore Blanchardstown District Court.

The accused, with an address at Hansfield Wood, Ongar, is charged with possession of cannabis as well as having the drug for sale or supply at Ashcroft Court, Blakestown Road, Mulhuddart last August 28.

He is also charged under Section 15a of the Misuse of Drugs Act, where the value of the cannabis is greater than €13,000.

Defence solicitor Jennifer Jackson said Mr Adeosun was working but was under the financial threshold to qualify for legal aid.

Judge David McHugh assigned defence solicitor Barry Fitzgerald and one junior counsel on free legal aid.

He also assigned a senior counsel, given the value of the drugs.

The court heard that Mr Adeosun's alleged accom- plice was previously sent forward for trial and was due to before the circuit court tomorrow.

Judge McHugh ordered that Mr Adeosun also appear before the circuit court tomorrow, so that the two cases may join up.

The accused has not yet indicated how he intends to plead to the charges.
