A DUBLIN man found with a knife by gardai was in a dispute with a neighbour at the time, a court heard.
Jim Stephens (54) and the neighbour have since resolved their difficulties.
Judge John Coughlan convicted and fined Stephens €500.
The defendant, of Kiltalown Heights in Tallaght, admitted before Tallaght District Court to possession of a knife.
The incident took place near his home on March 6.
The court heard Stephens has three previous convictions, all dating back to the 1980s.
Defence solicitor Eddie O’Connor said Stephens was in a dispute with a neighbour at the time but the pair have since resolved their difficulties.
Mr O’Connor said Stephens, who is on social welfare, was drinking a lot at the time of this offence but he is now sober.
