Man feared he saw own intestines after attack

A DUBLIN law student who stabbed a man during a street row caused such an injury that the victim thought he could see his own intestines.

Jonathan Hollywood, (19) of Nenagh Road in Terenure, pleaded guilty to the assault on Finbarr Manley on February 17 of last year at Castlebar Circuit Criminal Court.

Hollywood, who is studying Law and IT at DIT Aungier Street, had been on a chaotic spree of drink and drugs for days around the time of the attack, his barrister told the court.

The incident happened on the street in Claremorris, Co Mayo, after a row between local man Mr Manley, Hollywood and a third man, which resulted in the vicious attack.

Judge Tony Hunt adjourned all matters to Dublin as he wished to consider Hollywood's case.

Judge Hunt ordered that €2,000 compensation be paid to Mr Manley before May 14 next.
