Man accused of raping escort

A MAN accused of falsely imprisoning, raping and threatening to kill a female escort has told a Central Criminal Court jury he wanted her to act out his fantasy that she was to be a school girl and he was to be her father who caught her being a whore and was to punish her.

The man (40) said the escort had agreed to indulge in his fantasy. He has pleaded not guilty to false imprisonment, oral rape, rape, sexual assault with a mobile phone, sexual assault with the threat of violence and threats to kills the woman in December 2009 in Dublin. The trial continues.



Three terror suspects killed

Security forces opened fire on a car loaded with explosives as it attempted to speed into Mauritania's capital, setting off a huge explosion and killing three suspected al-Qa'ida-linked terrorists.

A caller to Islamist website Essirage.net, who identified himself as a spokesman for al-Qa'ida's North Africa branch, claimed responsibility for the attempted attack and said the group was targeting Mauritanian president Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz.



25 abandoned children found

Authorities in the northern Mexican border city of Nuevo Laredo have found 25 abandoned children and are looking for their parents.

Reports quoted a local rights activist as saying the parents may have been kidnapped. But the city council of Nuevo Laredo said it could not confirm that.

The council said two of the children had already been turned over to relatives, while 23 others were in the custody of child welfare agencies in Nuevo Laredo, across the border from Laredo, Texas.



Wonder gets into Hall of fame

The Apollo Theater has said singer-songwriter Stevie Wonder will be inducted into the New York City institution's Hall of Fame.

The Apollo announced that the songwriter of hits including I Just Called To Say I Love You will be inducted into the Apollo Legends Hall of Fame on June 13.

Past inductees have included Michael Jackson, Ella Fitzgerald and Aretha Franklin.
