Man accused of assault on ex-girlfriend at home

A MAN held his ex-partner in her bedroom and repeatedly struck her on the head, it has been alleged.

Donal Corrigan (22) is accused of assaulting and injuring the woman in an incident at her home.

The case against him was adjourned at Blanchardstown District Court.

Mr Corrigan, of St Aongus Grove, Tallaght, is charged with assault causing harm to his ex at Monksfield Lawns, Clondalkin, last December 15.

Sgt Mary Doherty told the court that gardai responded to a reported domestic incident on the day in question.

It was alleged that the accused had held his ex-partner in the bedroom, refusing to let her leave.

He allegedly assaulted her by hitting her on the head a number of times, causing severe bruising and bleeding.

She was taken to Tallaght Hospital for treatment and a medical report was presented to the court.

Reading this, Judge David McHugh remarked that the wounds alleged were soft tissue injuries.

He noted that a haematoma was referred to, but no ongoing after-effects. There had also been no loss of consciousness by the alleged victim.

The judge adjourned the case. Mr Corrigan has not yet indicated how he will plead.
