Man (65) dies on flight home

A MAN has died on a flight back to Dublin from Portugal.

The man, (65) was with his wife when he suddenly became unwell on Ryanair flight FR7033 yesterday morning.

The Cork man had been returning from the southern Portuguese city of Faro.

"Ryanair extends its deepest sympathies to the bereaved and will be providing any assistance required," a statement from the airline said.

It is believed there were two doctors on board who battled to save the passenger. His body was removed to Beaumont Hospital.

dies in crash

A motorcyclist has been killed after a collision with another vehicle near Ashbourne last night.

The accident happened at around 7.30pm on the northbound carriagway of the M2 motorway between the St Margaret's and the Ashbourne/Ratoath exits.

No one else was injured in the crash

The motorway was closed in both directions for a forensic collision examination and diversions were put in place. Gardai are appealing for witnesses.



Crazed drinker shoots 8 dead

A man with domestic problems has shot dead eight people, including a pregnant woman and two children, after taking alcohol and drugs in a rampage near the Philippine capital Manila.

It ended when he was shot dead by police.

At least eight other people were wounded in Kawit township, south of Manila, officials said.

Ronald Bae, who was killed in the shootout with police, had been on a "drug and alcohol binge" with his friends since Monday, drinking and taking methamphetamine.



Peace move in X Factor spat

Matt Cardle has offered an olive branch to X Factor winner James Arthur after the pair became embroiled in a spat.

Cardle, who won the contest in 2010, said he would love to go for a pint with Arthur, who is still top of the singles chart with Impossible. The pair fell out after Arthur made critical comments about previous male X Factor winners.
