Luxury pool and theatre for UCD students
The country's biggest university -- University College Dublin -- is transforming its campus with the opening of a swimming pool, cinema, and theatre next September.
The new centre at the university, which is home to more than 22,000 students, will also feature a gym, media suite studio, debating chamber and dance hall.
The centre's new Olympic- standard pool will be the largest on Dublin's southside -- its designers were behind the pool used in the Olympics in Atlanta in 1996.
The 100-seat cinema will be used by clubs and societies, classes for academic screenings, private parties and public screenings of the latest blockbusters.
A 250-seat parliamentary- style debating chamber will include leather benches, with room for a further 200 people on balconies surrounding the chamber, and a green room for speakers and guests.
