Lucky kiosk strikes again with €5m Lotto winner
A lucky punter who scooped €5m at the last Lotto draw bought the winning ticket at a Dublin shop, it has emerged.
The Gala Express kiosk in the Ilac Centre sold the €4 ticket on Saturday to the mystery winner.
Manager Martin Dalton revealed that Saturday's winner was not the first customer to find fortune at the central Dublin store.
"We had a €25,000 winner two weeks ago and a few months back a Euromillions tickets we sold won €250,000," Mr Dalton said.
"But this is by far the biggest win we have had."
Mr Dalton said the shopping centre on Henry Street could be described as a lotto hotspot.
He also managed the Corner Shop, at the Ilac, where a ticket worth €350,000 was recently sold. "The Ilac is a lucky little spot for us," he said.
Mr Dalton said the identity of the winner of Saturday's jackpot, worth €5,155,806, remained a mystery -- hundreds of clients try their luck at the store every week.
"It's very exciting when you sell a winner, but we sell hundreds of tickets every week," he said. "I hope it goes to good people and they enjoy it."
The winning numbers drawn were 2, 11, 13, 18, 20 and 30. The bonus number was 6.
Local councillor Christy Burke said he hoped a local resident had scooped this weekend's winnings.
"I haven't heard anything, but I'd love to see somebody from the area winning, especially in the hard times we are living in."
The biggest prize over the past year was sold at another Dublin shop -- the €16.4m Lotto ticket bought in Donnybrook Fair.
The winner, who took away the fourth highest jackpot in Lotto history, decided to remain anonymous.
Saturday's top prize had been accumulating since May 25 after a syndicate from Maynooth took home the last jackpot of €4m. The previous winner, postman Pat Broderick, from Kinsale, Co Cork, won €7m last March.
