The 19C scorcher on Saturday brought out more than 150 runners to Corkagh Park, Clondalkin to take part in "one of the nicest" parkruns of the year.

Locals and visitors alike weren't going to let the glorious sunshine go to waste and set the 5K route ablaze at the weekly morning event.

Nicola Dunne was one of the many participants who made it into a family affair.

Running alongside her husband Ronan and two daughters Hannah (5) and Mia (7), Ms Dunne said she was a very proud mum.

"It was such a lovely morning and I was so happy that the whole family came out to enjoy it with me.

"It marked a special occasion as it was the first time that my seven-year-old ran the whole course. She walked it two times before, but never actually ran it, so I was amazed to see her complete the 5K.

"It was definitely one of the nicest runs so far.

"She's still shattered today, but I'm a very proud parent. She has a determined head on her."

Ms Dunne added that she took up jogging when Corkagh parkrun was first established in September and hasn't stopped since.

"It's so much better than running on your own and there's always a great atmosphere."
