Wedding preparations are well underway for former Love/ Hate star and bride-to-be Susan Loughnane.

But the actress and author isn't letting the stress of choosing cake toppers and centre pieces get to her.

Susan (28) got engaged to her boyfriend of 10 years David Doyle back in February and she told the Diary she'll be walking down the aisle next summer.

The redhead beauty, who is based in Limerick with her air traffic controller fiance, will tie the knot in Meath surrounded by her nearest and dearest.

"It's going to be small enough, mostly family really.

"My work is so sporadic and I don't work with the same people all the time, so it's hard to squeeze everyone in and I just wanted it to be a family thing.

"We've got quite a big family as well, so that already makes it big," she said.

As for the all-important dress, the Malahide native has left the task of creating the gown with Irish designer - and best friend - Amanda Grogan.

"She's been designing for me since we were young.

"When she was in NCAD studying fashion I modelled everything for her so she knows what suits me and my shape," she said.

"Amanda's perfect to design my dress. We can be really honest with each other too, so I couldn't be happier to let her do it."

Susan, who first found fame when she competed on Britain's Next Top Model in 2010, is far from a bridezilla and is adamant to stay that way. "I think I am [relaxed] and I don't think I ever won't be. I'm never the type to panic about anything, so I can't see it to be a stress," she said.

"I don't have any preconceived notions, like I never dreamt about my wedding day when I was younger."

The flame-haired star isn't the only celebrity bride to stay super chilled for her big day.

At her wedding in Cork last weekend, 2fm presenter Louise McSharry swapped the top table for the decks when she dee-jayed for her guests.

Broadcaster Dawn O'Porter also shared a similar attitude towards her wedding to Irish actor Chris O'Dowd, ditching a designer gown for a £24 (€33) vintage dress from Ebay for their 2012 ceremony.
