Lisa's brave fiancee is her real-life hero as he catches handbag thief
Lisa Cannon's fiancé become her real-life hero this week after apprehending a robber on Grafton Street.
The Diary can reveal how her other half's quick thinking resulted in the arrest of a woman who stole a handbag.
In a case of life imitating art, her beau Richard Keatley dressed up as a Thundercats superhero figure for their recent engagement party.
"He was on the Luas and it was coming into Stephen's Green when he saw a woman putting her hand into another woman's handbag. As soon as the tram stopped, she ran off. The woman didn't even notice but Richard did and said she went flying down Grafton Street with this Michael Kors bag.
"Richard was shouting 'stop her' but nobody did so he took after her himself and managed to catch up with her and hold onto her until the Gardai came. The woman got all her stuff back, she was over the moon, she couldn't thank Richard enough."
The 36-year-old has been jokingly calling him "Captain Cymru" after the incident and said she was massively proud of his quick-thinking.
The pair are just back from scouting for wedding venues in Italy ahead of their nuptials in the summer of 2015.
A woman with expensive tastes, she revealed how George Clooney's favourite Villa came top of her list.
The TV3 presenter revealed how it was 'Amore' at first sight for her and fiancé Richie Keatley when they visited Villa Mangiacane near Florence.
"There were so many beautiful venues but that was the one that stood out," she said. "It's a lavish Tuscan winery and spa in the Chianti area of the region.
"George Clooney recently stayed there for a wedding but unless we win the Lotto, it's out of the question - I suppose a girl can dream."
She said the couple are divided between choosing a venue in France or Italy but they visited lots of places as part of their research.
They also visited Vignamaggio, a historical villa dating back to the 14th century, which was where the movie Much Ado About Nothing was filmed as part of their search for the ideal venue.
Organised Lisa has enlisted the services of not one but two wedding planners, based in Ireland and Tuscany as part of their wedding preparations.
She added: "We've put in a few proposals so now it's time to just sit on it for a little while and weigh up our options between France and Italy.
"We just want something that speaks to both of us."
