There was standing room only at the funeral ceremony of Nicholas (Nicky) Arnold where mourners heard of his love of flying.

Actress Leigh Arnold exited Tullow Church in Carrickmines, Dun Laoghaire holding a picture of her late brother following the ceremony.

A host of well-known faces turned out to support the grieving family as they come to terms with the 34-year-old's unexpected death.

TV personality Baz Ashmawy, former Miss Ireland Rosanna Davidson, and stylist Maria Fusco all turned out to pay their respects to the popular businessman.

Former Dublin Housewives star Danielle Meagher also joined the crowds of mourners in the south Dublin church.

Katie Jane Goldin of Gold fever Hair Extensions also attended the funeral.

"He was a really lovely guy and it's a terrible loss," author and columnist Amanda Brunker told the Herald.

On her social media, account the socialite commented that Nicky had been "taken far too young".

Nicholas was well known in social circles in the capital.

Previously he was director of an asset management agency.

Family friend Dr Maurice Collins, who spoke on behalf of the family, suggested that perhaps Nicky may become "a pilot in the sky" now.

He offered memories from various family members during the reflection.

Dr Collins relayed a tale from Nicholas's brother Simon, who remembered that his brother would always try to encourage his dad to keep doing loops when he took them flying - though it often caused the others on board to feel ill.

Nicky was also fondly remembered as a "good uncle" during the service.

Mr Arnold was found dead in his mother's Foxrock home last Wednesday. The cause of his death is not yet known.

Reverend John Tanner lead the service at the Anglican church.

Nicky is survived by his parents Maureen and David, his sisters Chloe and Leigh and his brother Simon.
