Lego revenue on the rise
good day for
Lego expanded revenue in the first half of the year, bridging the gap with toy industry market leader Mattel as consumers flocked to pick up play sets from box office hit The Lego Movie.
Sales in the first six months of 2014 rose 11pc in kroner to the equivalent of €1.5bn at the Danish maker of plastic bricks. Those sales matched those of Barbie-maker Mattel, which reported a 7pc decline in sales in the same period.
The results pit the two largest toy companies against each other going into the all-important Christmas season.
