THE Lotto's €10.6m jackpot was won with a ticket bought in the south of the country.
The huge bonanza will finally be claimed after the numbers 3, 8, 11, 23, 27 and 33, with the bonus number 36, came up for a lucky ticket holder.
The ticket was bought in Scanlan's newsagent in Liberty Square, Thurles, Co Tipperary, just hours before the draw took place.
A Lotto spokeswoman said the winner has yet to come forward. The winner ticket was a €6 quick pick.
In the Lotto Plus 1 draw, there was no winner of the €350,000 top prize.
The numbers drawn were 4, 17, 19, 23, 25 and 29.
The main prize has been accumulating since Saturday, December 15 -- the last time it was claimed.
Eager punters were spending more than €250,000 an hour in the peak buying time yesterday until the tills closed for the draw.
They were buying more than 1,000 tickets every minute and spent an average of €4.50 each on their chosen combinations.
