It may be June but traders are already thinking ahead. Last Christmas was the busiest in Dublin city centre since 2007, city businesses were told yesterday.
A two million strong increase in visitors and a decrease in the level of vacant premises from 15pc to 5pc since 2010 are among the positive signs for the city, the annual general meeting of the Dublin City Centre Bid Company, DublinTown, heard.
The association represents 2,500 businesses in the city centre.
Members were told the "Dublin at Christmas Festival" helped increase footfall to the tune of 9,388,500 on Grafton Street during the peak shopping season.
