Ladbrokes loses 12pc in bets at Irish shops
BOOKMAKER Ladbrokes has reported full-year operating profits of £202.3m (€240.45), a rise of 20pc.
Part of the increase was attributed to the popularity of new gambling machines and in-play betting.
But the company said the value of bets taken in its Irish shops fell by 12pc as the economic environment remained tough.
Ladbrokes managed to increase profits at its Irish business by almost 24pc to £10.9m (€12.95), however, due to cost cuts and a strong performance from gaming machines in its Northern Ireland shops. Ladbrokes has 208 shops in the Republic and 78 in Northern Ireland.
