Judge tells driver he put baby son at risk

A BANNED driver who is the sole carer of his baby son put him at risk by getting behind the wheel, a judge has said.

Terence Dandy (24) did not appear coherent when gardai stopped his car as it was being driven erratically in west Dublin. There was a strong smell of cannabis from the vehicle.

Judge Patrick Clyne, at Blanchardstown District Court, told Dandy that if he jailed him his son would go into care.

He imposed a four-month sentence but suspended it for two years. He also put Dandy off the road for four years.

Dandy, of Newgrange Road, Cabra, admitted driving without insurance or a driving licence at Park Boulevard, Tyrrelstown, last August 8.

He also admitted to driving without reasonable consideration and with failing to provide a blood specimen.
