Joy for Scarlett as she gives birth to baby girl, Rose
Actress Scarlett Johansson has given birth to a healthy baby girl.
In a move away from unusual celebrity baby names, Scarlet and her fiance, Romain Dauriac have named their daughter Rose.
Marcel Pariseau, a spokesman for the 29-year-old actress, said mother and daughter are doing well.
He added that the couple are seeking privacy and are supporters of the No Kids Policy, the celebrity effort to keep the children of famous people out of the public eye.
Johansson and Dauriac, a French former journalist, have been engaged since September, 2013.
The Lost in Translation actress was previously married to Ryan Reynolds, and this is her first child.
Rumours that Johansson was pregnant began to circulate earlier this year, but the actress has never publicly confirmed the pregnancy.
She cleverly disguised her baby bump on the red carpet with a series of peplum skirts, dresses and jackets.
In March, Johansson (29) told WSJ magazine that she wants to have it all as a working mother.
"It seems so stressful to not be able to spend time with your family because you're constantly chasing the tail of your own success," she said.
"There must exist a world in which I can balance those things, be able to raise a family and still make a film a year, or work on my own, develop things, do theatre. I want to be able to have it all. Selfishly."
