Janet feels the pressure but is thrilled to survive

IRISH X Factor sensation Janet Devlin told of her relief after making it through to the next round.

The teenager has revealed how she was thrilled to survive the first-round culling at the hit show.

But she had admitted that she is starting to feel the pressure as the competition gets underway in earnest.

"It was very hard this week. It was hard with the judges deciding and it will be hard with the public voting but hopefully I'll have done enough to go through," the Tyrone girl said.

The pale-skinned beauty also called on the Irish public to get behind her and vote in their droves when she took to the stage next weekend.

Sporting her dramatic new red hair, the softly spoken schoolgirl blew audiences away with her unique rendition of Coldplay's Fix You.

Cheering her on at Fountain Studios in London were her proud parents Patricia and Aquinas, alongside her brother Jason.

She's now one of 12 acts remaining in the competition.

And the Herald can reveal how mentor Kelly Rowland "agonised" overnight as to who she was going to eliminate.

An insider explained how the choice ultimately came down to a coin toss between Janet and rival act Amelia.

"In the end, she chose to keep Janet in the competition as she felt she was more unique and would appeal to the public more.

"It was such a tough choice for her. She was really upset about having to lose one of her acts, it was very emotional for her," said a source.
