Jailed for wire attack on wife

A man who pulled a computer wire around his former wife's neck as she pleaded with him not to kill her has been given an three and a half year sentence at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

David Keegan (45) of Corbally Park, Westbrook Glen, Tallaght, pleaded guilty to assaulting Suzanne Keegan on October 8, 2007, at his then home in Clondalkin.



Rogue satellite threat to TV

A TV communications satellite is drifting out of control, threatening to enter another satellite's orbit and interfere with cable programming across the US. The owner, Intelsat, said it lost control of the Galaxy 15 satellite on April 5, possibly because of a solar storm.



US Biden's son hit by a stroke

The elder son of US vice president Joe Biden was recovering in hospital today after suffering a stroke.

Beau Biden (41), the Delaware attorney general, was said to be alert and talking with his family.
