'I've no time for myself, let alone for dating' - Ruth

Spare a thought for TV presenter Ruth O'Neill who has admitted she's too busy with work to go looking for romance.

The Xpose host has been working round the clock since Lisa Cannon, Peter O'Riordan and Aisling O'Loughlin were all axed from the show to make way for herself and Cassie Stokes to become full-time hosts.

The Castleknock woman (28) is sure to have a bevy of eligible bachelors eager to date her, but she has yet to explore the dating scene in Dublin since she moved home in May after five years in Los Angeles.

"I have no time for myself, I don't even know whether I could make time for someone. I've honestly had no time," she told the Diary. "I have barely spent any time going out in Dublin for the last few months actually, I haven't.

"Last weekend was my first weekend at home and I got a facial and a massage and went out for dinner with my parents. I haven't actually gone out in Dublin in ages."

Ruth spends a considerable amount of time in London for work as well but she reckons when it comes to having the craic, no one can beat Irish men.

"English guys are very gentleman-like and very polite. Irish guys are very funny, they're good at banter. Guys are all kind of the same everywhere, I just can't deal with them," she said.

The TV3 star recently considered joining the online dating world of Tinder but she thinks Dublin is too small for that.

"Recently, I'm thinking maybe I would, but maybe not in Dublin though. Dublin is very small, I hate when you see you've got 150 Facebook friends in common. I don't think I'd go on it in Ireland," she said.

Xpose is gearing up to celebrate 10 years on air next year and Ruth gave some advice to aspiring presenters, admitting the job is not for the faint of heart.

"Xpose is 10 years going next March and we are getting more access. A lot of this stuff comes up last minute. You're literally told the night before, 'Hey can you fly to London? You're doing this, this and this.' And you have to rush to pack your bags.

"At fashion week I was told two days before that I was going to New York. If you're going to work on Xpose, you have to be able to take the pressure and the deadlines."

Ruth joined the show in May after previously having competed on reality series Total Xposure in 2009 to find a new host, when she lost out to Sean Munsanje.

"I wasn't nervous to join. I knew all the team on and off through the years and I had guest presented for them a few months before. I don't really get nervous. I love it, I'm obsessed with it," she said.
