'It's a girl' - Samantha shares her baby joy
Singer Samantha Mumba has announced she expecting her first child and said "it's a girl".
The Dublin star has posted a scan of her baby online.
Samantha (31) is married to former policeman Torray Scales and has a stepson called Mason but this will be their first child together.
The singer is currently based in Los Angeles where she is working on her movie career.
Earlier this year, she told fans she was looking forward to starting a family. "I want to start a family at some point. Kids are something I want."
Last year Samantha tried to reignite interest in her music with a number of gigs at home in Ireland.
Only Just Begun was the song to relaunch her career but it only sold 40 copies in the week after its release.
She hoped the sales would be helped by her Irish tour which included a gig in Vicar Street, Dublin where she played to more than 500 fans.
She had self-funded the single which was produced by Justin Gray, who previously collaborated with Mariah Carey.
Samantha has said she will not be moving back to Ireland full-time in the near future.
"I love being home, especially when I spend a bit of time at home it's always hard coming back to America. But I'm married, so it's not just my decision now moving forward."
The dismal sales of Only Just Begun were in complete contrast to Samantha's first single Gotta Tell You which reached number one in Ireland.
Her first album sold over four million copies and in 2001 she won a Grammy nomination starring alongside Guy Pearce in The Time Machine.
The Drumcondra girl "broke" America with her first album which stayed in the Billboard charts for months but it was quickly followed by a couple of movie flops and a second album never materialised.
Samantha attended the famous Billie Barry State School with former Westlife singer Brian McFadden and was talent spotted at the age of 15 while performing in the show "Rockin Hood".
