Italy's fears on Libya refugees
ITALY'S interior minister says he worries that Nato's bombing of Libya will drive even more refugees to Italy.
Roberto Maroni's Northern League party is becoming a restless ally for premier Silvio Berlusconi, who supports Nato's mission against Libya leader Muammar Gaddafi.
Mr Maroni said if intelligence services cannot find Gaddafi, it is not working.
Race to finish US floodwall
CONSTRUCTION crews are putting the final touches on a makeshift levee guarding a small Iowa town from the creeping advance of Missouri River floodwaters.
Robert Michaels, who has overseen the construction of the temporary levee guarding Hamburg for the Army Corps of Engineers, said floodwater advanced to within 500 yards of the floodwall and is expected to reach it later today.
Trillion yen in quake payouts
EARTHQUAKE payouts for Japanese non- life insurers may reach 1 trillion yen, the chairman of the country's insurers association said.
Payouts so far have reached 974.5bn yen, Hisahito Suzuki, chairman of the General Insurance Association of Japan, said at a press conference in Tokyo.
