It appears the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) has not completely given up on the idea of issuing a commercial licence for digital terrestrial television (DTT).

The BAI hired UK consultants to look into the matter. RTE spent €70m on developing the Saorview free-to-air DTT service, run by Mary Curtis (pictured).
