Irishman wins €7.5m on lotto in New York
A YOUNG Irishman has won over €7.5m on a scratchcard game in the New York Lottery.
The man, who has only been identified as a 28-year-old emigrant so far, will be handed the $10m prize today.
A representative of the New York Lottery will present the huge cheque to the lucky punter later this evening when his name will be revealed.
He is understood to have settled in Yonkers, a suburb popular with Irish emigrants.
He is the third Irish native from this neighbourhood to have won on the city's lottery.
Donal and Niamh Finnan, from Broadford in Co Kildare, scooped nearly €31m in May 2009 after moving to the US in search of work, while Tullamore woman Patricia Eisel (40) bagged nearly €6m after she was stranded in snow in New York in January 2011.
