THE family of Irish girl Lisa Orsi who collapsed after trekking up a volcano in Indonesia have said they're hoping for a miracle.

Lisa (22) was left fighting for her life after suffering an allergic reaction on the trek.

She was rushed to hospital where her parents, Denis and Sharon, have now arrived from their home in Derry.

"Really our only hope is a miracle," Lisa's uncle Peter Orsi said.

"I spoke with my brother Denis yesterday morning and he said the doctors reduced the level of ventilation Lisa is getting down to a level where her brain should have kicked in the natural instinct to breathe. But this didn't happen with Lisa.

"This reveals the level of activity in the brain, so really it is the worst possible news we could have had," Mr Orsi said.

Lisa has been working in Singapore and travelled to Indonesia for a short holiday.

Her best friend Sinéad McElhinney last night described Lisa as "funny, bubbly, caring and adventurous".

"She always had a smile on her face. It's hard to believe this has happened because she's the most amazing person," Ms McElhinney said.
