Irish eyes are smiling as Mrs Brown's girl woos the judges on Strictly debut
Comedian Brendan O'Carroll was on hand to give a big thumbs-up for his wife Jennifer Gibney at the launch show of Strictly Come Dancing
"I think I need my mammy now," a nervous Jennifer had quipped early on in the hit programme last night.
The actress plays the role of the daughter Cathy in Mrs Brown's Boys, while her real-life husband Brendan plays the role of the "mammy" Agnes Brown.
But it was an altogether more glitzy role for the actress last night, who wore a stunning blue cocktail dress for the launch of the new series.
She confessed that she was excited and really looking forward to doing the show. "I just can't wait," Jennifer said.
The couple could barely contain their excitement when it emerged her dancing partner for the show will result in an all-Irish line up.
Jennifer has been paired with Tristan MacManus (31) from Bray, Wicklow, who has just joined as a dancer on the show, although he found fame in the US after starring in Dancing with the Stars.
Host Claudia Winkleman said "Mrs Brown looks happy" as the camera cut to a delighted looking Brendan in the audience, when it emerged that Jennifer and Tristan will be performing together.
Jennifer (50) was one of the 15 new contestants unveiled by the BBC last night.
Among the well-known faces that she is up against are pop star Pixie Lott, Casualty actress Entra Sarker, television presenter Caroline Flack, ex-Scotland rugby player Thom Evans and MasterChef judge Greg Wallace.
Meanwhile, Liberties singer Imelda May (40) looked glam in a red satin dress when she performed Get Ready on the show last night with legend Smokey Robinson.
