Internet boost for local groups
LOCAL community groups have been provided free access to a news website to promote their organisations.
Almost 2,000 organisations are using the site, www.mylocalnews.ie, which is sponsored by EBS.
The service allows locals and those living away from home to keep up to date on key developments and get details on how to get involved in activities.
The organisations are using the site to assist in the awareness of initiatives such as event notification, fundraising and open days.

Broadband rises to 32pc
BROADBAND penetration in Ireland, which includes mobile broadband, hit 32.4pc for the final quarter of the year, but still lags behind the rate for the EU average.
The Commission for Communications Regulation figures put broadband access in the 1.6m households at 61pc, up from 59.4pc in the third quarter of 2009.
Mobile phone users in Ireland have changed, with 67.5pc opting for pre-pay, down from 72.1pc two years ago.

STUDENTS have been tasked with devising an advert for BabySkips, with the chance of winning €3,000.
Key Waste, the firm based in Dublin's Ballyfermot that makes BabySkips, the flexible skip 'bags' available from DIY shops, visited colleges and universities to seek participants for its new campaign.
