International award for designer Simone
The awards just keep on rolling in for Dublin designer Simone Rocha.
The daughter of fashion icon John Rocha is carving out a successful career and has just been recognised as one of the industry's greats.
Simone (26) was named as International Designer Of The Year at the Scottish Fashion Awards in London.
The gong rewarded an international designer who has been inspired or influenced by Scotland and its textiles.
Simone was up against tough competition including Vivienne Westwood, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Maison Martin Margiel and Mulberry.
Grand dame Westwoood was hotly-tipped to pick up the award, but Simone pipped her to it.
Instead, 73-year-old Westwood was inducted into the Scottish Fashion Awards Hall of Fame.
In its ninth edition, the Scottish Fashion Awards (SFA) honoured the most notable Scottish contributors to the industry, and the ceremony will turn the spotlight on Simone.
The Irish starlet has cited her granny as the inspiration for a recent collection called Respect Your Elders.
