Inflation takes fall

Eurozone inflation fell to its lowest level in a year during the past month.

This will give the European Central Bank more opportunity to lower interest rates in a bid to help revive economic growth.

Consumer price inflation in the 17 countries fell 2.4pc year-on-year in May, from 2.6pc in April. Economists polled by Reuters had forecast 2.5pc.
