IN DISGUISE ... NEW HATS BUCK THE TREND

It was no party for this stag in Dublin's Phoenix Park yesterday when his antlers became tangled in a pile of green netting.

It may have looked like some very fashionable headgear but in fact the buck narrowly escaped being snared by the netting in the branches of a nearby tree.

Watched by other members of the herd he fought to shake free of the mesh.

There are currently 520 fallow deer roaming freely around in the park.

Phoenix Park deer are protected but culled once a year by the Office of Public Works.
