In Brief: Teen took €4k in house raid

A YOUTH accused of taking part in a house burglary during which €4,650 worth of cash and jewellery was stolen has been remanded on bail.

The 17-year-old had entered a guilty plea earlier at the Children's Court to burglary at Allen Park Road, Stillorgan, on August 31 last year.

His solicitor Gareth Noble told Judge Ann Ryan that since the teenager pleaded guilty in April, he had to leave the country due to trouble with another family. He has since returned. He was remanded to appear on July 3.

Trayvon killer's wife charged

THE wife of Florida teenager Trayvon Martin's killer is being accused of lying to a judge about their finances during a bond hearing and faces one count of perjury.

George Zimmerman has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder in the shooting of Trayvon. He was granted a $150,000 bond at that hearing and released.
