In brief: Suspect faces burglary charge

A MAN accused of stealing electrical equipment from a firm was allegedly caught red-handed with the goods a short distance away, a court heard.

Glen Farrell (39) was allegedly carrying a bag full of electrical equipment, including mobile phones, a digital camera and a Dell notebook, when he was stopped by gardai.

Farrell, of Carrickmount Avenue, in Rathfarnham, appeared before Dun Laoghaire District Court charged with burglary and handling stolen property.

The alleged incident took place at Main Street, Blackrock, on December 14 last year.

The case was adjourned for five weeks.



Brother caught with cocaine

A MAN who claimed he bought cocaine for his sister has been convicted of possession of the drug with intent to supply.

Father-of-two William Gavin (33) was fined €200 after he admitted the charge at Dublin District Court.

Gavin of Courtney Place, Ballybough, had both cannabis and six separate "wraps" of cocaine on him when gardai searched him.

The court heard gardai noticed him acting suspiciously at Ballybough Road at 3pm on December 22, 2009.

The cocaine he had was worth €25, while the cannabis was worth €20.



Carer on stolen DVDs charge

A CARER accused of having computer games as well as children's CDs and DVDs which were stolen in a burglary has been given five weeks to consider his plea to the charge.

Stuart Donovan (35) appeared before Dun Laoghaire District Court charged with possession of stolen property.

The court heard the alleged incident took place at Glenageary Road Upper on August 3 last year.

The court heard that the DPP has directed summary disposal of the matter in the District Court.

Judge John Lindsay adjourned the matter for five weeks.
