A Dublin teenager who raped his six-year-old cousin will be sentenced on Friday at the Central Criminal Court.
The 15-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to raping his cousin in a Dublin suburb on April 2, 2011.
Neither of the teenager's parents, who are drug addicts, appeared in court. His defence pleaded against a jail term and to allow him get treatment in the community.
The court was told that the six-year-old boy was raped in the bathroom of his home.
The victim's brother knocked on the door during the incident but the teenager told him that they were playing wrestling.
Robbery note on betting slip
A MAN has been jailed for 18 months for two attempted robberies after he handed his victims handwritten notes on the back of betting slips demanding cash.
Jonathan Mates's first note read "I am going to take money from the till, you fat w*****", while the second again demanded money and said "I've nothing to lose".
Mates fled each of the shops without taking anything after staff pressed the panic alarms.
Mates (22) of Grantstown, Co Waterford, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to the attempted robberies at a Subway takeaway and another shop.
Dozens more rebels killed
Colombia's military killed 36 rebels in the pre-dawn bombing of a guerrilla camp, officials said.
The attack in the Meta state municipality of Vista Hermosa comes as the group known by its Spanish initials Farc says it is preparing to free its last prisoners. Colombia dismissed suggestions that the attacks could delay the releases.
Lost art could sell for ¤4m
AN auction will feature a painting by art deco artist Tamara de Lempicka that vanished from public view after it was created in 1925.
Sotheby's in New York says Reclining Nude I is expected to sell for $3m (¤2.25m) to $5m (¤3.75m) on May 2.
The work was included in the artist's first major solo exhibition in Milan in 1925, but disappeared afterwards.
