'I'd be shot if i was on love/hate' - Keith Duffy
Boyzone singer turned actor Keith Duffy has revealed that he thinks producers would have liked to kill him off in the last season of Love/Hate.
Keith played personal trainer turned drug dealer Mark in the hit gangland drama but his character didn't return for the fifth season.
"I think they'd probably have liked to shoot me the last time I was in Love/Hate but they didn't so who knows what will happen," he laughed.
Keith (40) also didn't rule out a future return to the cobbles of Coronation Street.
"I do keep in touch with people in Manchester. I worked there on and off for about 10 years when I was on Coronation Street.
"I don't get to watch much of it and the only reason I'm aware if it's good or bad is if people stop me in the street and say that 'Coronation Street is awful'.
"To be honest, I will return to it but I'm not sure when and I don't know for how long but I reckon Ciaran McCarthy will definitely walk down the cobbles again."
But the singer is kept busy as Boyzone are set to release their new Motown album before Christmas.
"It's an album of cover versions, it's all our favourite Motown songs, and we had a great time dressing up Motown style and doing some Motown dance moves," he told Newstalk.
"It gives us an opportunity to hang out together, we enjoy being together and we have a die-hard fan base who love to see us and feel young again," he said.
Keith had reason to celebrate on Wednesday night when he was awarded an Honorary Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland's Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery in recognition of his work as a campaigner for children with autism.
"I was blown away and honoured to receive that award," said the singer whose daughter Mia has autism.
"I said 'so, how many awards are there tonight?' and they looked at me like I'd 10 heads and said 'just the one'.
"I was under the illusion that there was an award ceremony and there was some kind of novelty award for somebody that has a familiar face," he laughed.
