'I love being back home in Ireland', says star Alannah
Alannah Beirne has revealed she would love to settle down back in Ireland, despite her busy modelling career in London.
The Kildare woman (24) currently lives in the UK but returned to Dublin to compete on Dancing with the Stars. However, she's not back home for good just yet.
She has kept her apartment in London for the time being and plans to travel back and forth between the two cities.
"I still have my flat in London, but I don't have a plan put in place just yet. I'm thinking of maybe going back and forth to London," she said.
"My management over there have put me forward for a lot of things, but at the same time, I love Ireland and I love being back at home".
The TV star said her time at home will depend on how much work she can get here.
"I would prefer to stay here. I love Ireland," she said.
"I love being close to my family and all my friends are here as well. It's just the opportunities really.
"There's girls over here who are doing extraordinarily well. I'd love to live here but, for work purposes, I might have to spread my wings for a little while and then maybe come back."
Alannah rose to fame last year when she competed on Britain's Next Top Model.
One of the early front- runners, she made it to the top three before being knocked out of the contest.
During the show, she frequently had to deal with being called 'too sexy' by the judges in her photo shoots.
Although she has enjoyed the UK, Alannah has found the industry to have more of a hard edge in London.
"The modelling industry over in London is completely different to here. Everyone here knows everyone, but in London, it's bigger and there's a lot more demand for work. It's cut-throat," she told the Diary.
"There are bigger opportunities and you can make more money, but it's putting your foot in the right place."
Alannah has worked regularly since Britain's Next Top Model and attended several catwalk shows at last year's New York Fashion Week.
She is currently taking part in Dancing with the Stars and is partnered with professional dancer Vitali Kozmin, who reached the final last year with Fair City actress Aoibhin Garrihy.
He could repeat his success with Alannah, who has been at the top of the leaderboard alongside other front-runners Erin McGregor, Anna Geary and Jake Carter.
"I'm getting the opportunity to raise my profile and show people who I am, which is really nice and important to me," she said.
Alannah doesn't think she has received any hate since the series began, but admitted she doesn't go looking for it.
"I don't really watch anything online or read things. I don't really have the time," she said.
