Connected's Kate McGrew has revealed that she's found it hard to find somewhere to live since revealing she is a sex worker on the reality show.

The RTE2 show followed six girls as they went about their daily lives.

The first season of the show finished this week and Kate has been struggling to find a home since revealing her profession.

"It has been hard and I can't find a place to live. I have been explicitly prevented from moving into places because of what I do," she revealed.

"I don't feel cross with the producers of Connected as it is so important that this issue and this perspective is out there.

"One person sent me a letter - he was very nice about me and what I did but he said that because I was a sex worker I could not live in his building," she added.

Kate (35) believes that it was worth it as it sparked a debate about the nature of sex work in Ireland.

"It's worth not having a place to live if it raises awareness. It's part of a cultural conversation and evolution of women's place in society and autonomy.

"Luckily I have a good support network so I have places to stay and am fine," she added.

She also feels she's received mostly positive feedback from the show.

"I was bracing myself for all kinds of backlash. I've had so many people saying 'You go, girl', and people thanking me for instigating discussions and opening up topics," she said.

While not being able to rent somewhere to live has been a downside, Kate has experienced success with her stage shows.

"I have new representation so I'm hoping to do more shows into the future," she said.

The Ohio native previously performed with fellow Connected star Elayne Harrington - known as Temper-Mental MissElayneous.

Kate has also released a new song called Hey Lady, which she said "encourages all women to be strong and powerful".
