A terrified woman was dragged from her vehicle by two men yesterday during an early morning carjacking.
The woman, who was on her way to work, was targeted at 5.40am.
She had parked her silver- coloured 09 CE-registered Ren-ault Megane at Moyfenrath, Enfield, Co Meath, and was waiting for a lift in another vehicle.
The woman, who has not been named, is understood to have been car pooling.
A garda spokesperson said the victim was suddenly confronted by two men.
"She was physically pulled out of the car and the men got in and drove it away in the direction of Kilcock," the spokesperson said.
"Gardai are investigating reports that the men had been walking on the ring road and on Main Street at Enfield for some time before the incident."
Officers have appealed to any witnesses to contact Trim Garda Station.
Gardai said they are particularly interested in hearing from motorists who were driving in the area at the time of the carjacking, and who may have dashcam footage of the incident or of the two men walking in the area.
It comes as gardai investigating another carjacking, in Kildare, have made significant progress.
On February 19 a woman in her 40s was left badly shaken when her car was taken at knifepoint in the Kill area.
It was found last week in a supermarket car park in the Palmerstown area of west Dublin.
No arrests have been made in the case, which is being investigated by officers from Naas Garda Station.
Sources said gardai believe that a Ballyfermot criminal may have been responsible for the crime.
The driver has given a full statement to gardai and officers are working on an EvoFIT of the suspect.
Gardai are now trawling through CCTV footage of roads in the Palmerstown and Ballyfermot areas and are "hopeful" of making an arrest.
