High heels leave crocked Lisa back on crutches
UNLUCKY Lisa Murphy is back on crutches because of a re-occurring foot injury.
The glamorous salon owner (39) has been forced to curb her social activities after having more treatment for her broken toe, an injury she sustained after tripping up stairs in Dublin.
It didn't stop her going on holidays to Portugal with fiance Gerald Kean last August, where the pain got worse and she was eventually diagnosed with the broken digit.
The gregarious lawyer told the Herald how she just has to take care of herself for a little while to allow her foot to heal properly. They were due to attend tomorrow's Hennessy Gold Cup at Leopardstown but he said they'll see how they feel on the day and decide whether Lisa's up to cavorting around the racecourse or not.
"She didn't really look after it when it first happened.
"She has been walking around in these high-heeled shoes like Louboutins and just did herself more damage as a result so she's back on the crutches now," he said.
"She went to see Joe McKeever about it. He's a top guy, and he warned her that she had to be more careful or it won't get any better.
"She's had it reset and it should be on the mend now.
"She just needs to look after it for a little while." The smitten couple have been dating for the past three years, with Gerald getting down on bended knee during a night out in Residence just before Christmas 2009.
They now plan on marrying towards the end of this year but haven't made a definite decision on where the wedding will be.
"Both of us would like to get married abroad," Gerald continued.
"We just think it would suit us better. It would make it more memorable and hopefully a bit easier to plan.
"I'm not ruling anything out. It could be any random place yet. There was talk of Switzerland, but it might be a bit too cold. We also love France, as both myself and Lisa have spent a lot of time there over the years, but, as I say, it's all up in the air. We had hoped to start planning while we were away, but we were enjoying ourselves too much.
"We need to sit down and discuss it properly in the next few weeks."
Lisa, who runs a beauty salon in Sandycove called New Lisa Life, was previously engaged to Michael Flatley while Gerald was once married to fellow lawyer Clodagh Hopkins, with whom he has one daughter named Kirsten (14).
