High alert after burglary surge
Residents in the Fairview, Marino and Clontarf areas are on high alert after a surge in burglaries there over the last month.
Last Monday night, a home off Griffith Avenue was burgled and thieves made off with the owner's car after they stole the keys during the burglary.
The "big issue" in the area is now the main item on the agenda at the next Joint Policing Committee of the North Central Area.
Local representatives have asked gardai to investigate the spike after receiving calls and emails from concerned residents.
A garda source said that there were a number of burglaries in the Coolock area before Christmas and now the focus seems to have moved to Clontarf.
