Hibernia offers first online PhD courses
The first online PhD programme has been launched in Ireland by Hibernia College.
Its being offered in collaboration with UK educational institution Plymouth University from January next year.
Dr Sean Rowland, President of Hibernia College, said that the college will be awarding three full-time PhD scholarships worth €16,000 and fees annually.
The new PhD programme will offer full and part-time students the ability to undertake doctoral studies in four key research areas, including: the impact of learning technologies on learning experiences; innovation in teaching, learning and assessment; innovation in teacher education and comparative education and internationalisation
Students can undertake their PhD from anywhere in the world through the Hibernia College online learning platform.
Anyone undertaking the Hibernia College PhD will automatically be part of the Plymouth Institute of Education, as the awarding body.
Enrolment for the Hibernia College PhD is on a rolling basis, and applicants will normally be expected to hold a relevant masters qualification.
