A YOUNG farmer hailed a hero for sparking a dramatic rescue of a stranded fisherman has has said he believes he was simply “in the right place at the right time” when the incident happened.
John Grant was tending to sheep near Clonmany in Co Donegal when he thought he could hear someone shouting for help out at sea.
He then drove on his quad bike to a nearby beach to try to listen again when he spotted arms waving in the air.
John, 23, who also works at North West Memorials in Muff, revealed: “I just couldn’t believe it. I knew I had heard something but nobody else had.
“It was only when I actually focused on the sea that I could see this person flapping his arms and waving for help.
