SLAIN gangster Daniel Gaynor should have been in jail, it emerged today.
The 24-year-old alleged gun-for-hire was shot dead in front of his two young children.
However, Gaynor would have been in jail for breaching the terms of a suspended sentence had he not appealed the decision immediately.
Detectives were today investigating whether the motive for Gaynor's murder was his suspected involvement in the shooting dead of an associate of 'The Don' Eamon Dunne.
The career criminal is also the chief suspect in the 2008 shooting of innocent postman Robert Delany in Tallaght.
Gaynor himself was just seven years old when his own father, Robert McGrath, was shot dead by gardai.
