Gun found in garda raid over shoplifting

THREE women who were arrested during a search of a house where a sawn-off shotgun and €300 worth of cosmetics were seized have been released from garda custody.

Gardai raided the property in the Dunsink area of Finglas yesterday as part of an investigation into shoplifting.

They recovered a sizeable amount of cosmetics in the house and arrested two women in their 20s for shoplifting offences. These women are expected to appear before the courts in the coming weeks.

Officers also recovered a sawn-off shotgun and a large quantity of ammunition which led to the arrest of a woman in her 40s. A file on this woman is now being prepared for the DPP.

All three were held at Blanchardstown Garda Station last night before being released without charge.

Today gardai were investigating whether the firearm and bullets were linked to a Traveller feud in the area.
