Groceries thief claims 'moment of madness'
A MOTHER-of-two was in a check-out queue when in a "moment of madness" she decided to walk out without paying for the goods, a court heard.
Leanne Creedy (27) started to panic midway through the theft and was easily caught by security staff.
Judge David McHugh applied the probation act after Creedy agreed to donate €20 to charity.
The defendant, of Graigue Court in Ballymun, admitted before Blanchardstown District Court to stealing groceries, worth €45, from Dunnes Stores in Finglas on May 19 last.
Solicitor Simon Fleming said Creedy was in the check-out queue when she foolishly decided to walk out without paying for the goods.
He said Creedy described the theft as "a moment of madness".
