GRAFTON Street will glow green from tonight until St Patrick's Day following the installation of new lights as part of a €4m upgrade.

Dublin City Council has also announced that work will begin repaving the pedestrian section of Wicklow Street and Johnson Court from the middle of next month as part of further improvement works.

The €500k project is expected to be completed by late September, and silver-grey Leinster granite - similar to that used on Grafton Street - will be laid, replacing the old red brick surface.

The completion of the Grafton Street works will be marked by a ceremony this evening at 6.45pm.

Lord Mayor Christy Burke has thanked businesses for their "cooperation and patience" during the works, which began in June 2013.

"Following these works, Grafton Street is now an even bigger draw for shoppers and tourists," he said.
