Greeks slash welfare
THE Greek parliament has finally given the green light to state pension and healthcare cuts.
The move to ratify a €3.2bn package of spending cuts comes as Europe's leaders seek to turn the corner on the debt crisis by mapping out new routes to grow.
A treaty designed to ensure there will be no repeat of the massive debts that felled Ireland, Greece and Portugal will be signed tomorrow morning after EU president Herman Van Rompuy is given a new 30-month mandate.
The latest two-day meeting of leaders will also see the EU attempt to create more jobs.
