Google in 32pc leap

ONLINE ad sales drove Google's 32pc leap in quarterly net profit to $2.17bn (€1.54bn).

Paid clicks, a measure of how frequently consumers click on Google's ads, rose 16pc in the September quarter compared with a year earlier. The average price that marketers paid Google per click increased 3pc from a year earlier.

Revenue surged to $7.29bn (€5.18bn) in the quarter.
