Glenroe's Mary McEvoy wants part as Red Rock moll
MarY McEvoy wants to go from the farmyard to the cop shop, as she says she'd love to star in TV3's Red Rock.
Known for playing Biddy Byrne in the vintage soap Glenroe, Mary says she'd love to appear in the soap, which is based around a Dublin Garda station.
"I'm obsessed with it - it's extremely good," she said.
"The quality is excellent. If they want a good, hard-assed, gangster mama they can give me a call.
"I don't want to be someone's granny or mam or anything nice - I want to be hardcore," she added.
While she'd love a role on Ireland's newest soap, Mary will have to wait, as she is currently in rehearsals for the Matchmaker which will take to the stage at the Gaiety in November.
Mary has been touring with the show on and off for 10 years and previously starred in it opposite her Glenroe husband, the late Mick Lally.
Comedian Jon Kenny has been cast in the new production and Mary says he's a "marvellous actor".
Red Rock returns to TV3 after the summer break on Wednesday September 2 at 8.30pm.
